What is a Slurpee Frozen Moment?

A Slurpee Frozen Moment occurs when you’re enjoying your Slurpee and experiencing your Slurpee. It’s that moment when the Slurpee hits your mouth, and you indulge and escape in the refreshment. It’s when time stands still, and nothing else that’s happening around you matters except for the Slurpee.

What key dates do I need to remember besides my own birth date?

The contest begins on June 17, 2010 and the entry deadline is August 15, 2010. After the contest period has ended, a grand prize winner will be selected. Also, random prizes will be given out to individuals on a daily and weekly basis beginning July 2.

How do I enter the contest?

It’s easy. All you have to do is register an account, upload a video, and then Bob’s your uncle. (Even if he really isn’t.)

Who is eligible to enter the contest? Is it true that you need a moustache?

Well, although moustaches are hilarious, it’s not a requirement. If you’re a Canadian, outside of Quebec, you've pretty much got the green light. For more details around eligibility, see the contest rules.

How do I create and upload a video? Do I need to be a rocket scientist?

Creating and uploading a video is easy and peasy. And since we're using YouTube's video platform, you can take advantage of YouTube's great resource directory to help you get your video right, as well as some tutorial videos to help you take your videos to the next level. And we don't mean the moon. Just try and remember to upload your video to our site after you register an account.

How do I win? Do I have to really practice like hockey players?

There are lots of prizes to be won. Some will take skill to win. Other prizes… well, skill will be subjective. Learn more about the prizes here

How do I know if I’ve won?

Besides potentially developing a pretty intense Slurpee habit, having cash to throw about, and becoming a TV commercial star? We will email, or call you to let you know if you win a prize. Weekly and daily prize winners will be contacted by email or phone within five business days of selection. The grand prize winner will be contacted by email or phone by August 27, 2010.

Not that winning is everything, but if I win, how do I claim my prize?

If you win, you will be contacted by email or phone. So be sure to give us a correct email address and not something like goofball@justkidding.ca. Weekly and daily prize winners will have five days to claim their prizes. The grand prize winner will be contacted by email or phone by August 27, 2010.  For more details on prize redemption, please read our contest rules.

If I win a daily/weekly prize, am I still eligible to win the grand prize?
Yes. Daily/weekly prizes will be given randomly to all the entries we have received so far. If you have won a T-shirt or other weekly/daily prizes, you will still be eligible for the grand prize of $5,000, a year’s supply of free Slurpee drinks, and the opportunity to have your winning video featured in a 7-Eleven television commercial.

Once my video is on your site, how do I get views?

Organically. We hope it just happens. You can help your own cause too, as you’ll be provided with your own webpage for every video you upload. Simply copy the link of your page and send it to whoever and whomever, or use the Share buttons on the page. For more information on how to get more views, visit our contest tips.

What if there is a tie?

Ties aren’t necessary. For this contest, dress casually. In the event of a tie, however, then it’s all up to the judges. They have the final say. And no, they won’t take Slurpee bribes. Check the rules so you know how we score.

Why do I have to sign up?

We need to ensure we give credit where credit is due. Meaning, we need to give you props for the videos you submit. Also, we need to have a way of contacting you if you win. By signing up, you will be given your own account where you can view your submitted videos, and upload more if you wish.

Are there a maximum number of videos I can submit?

No. Let bulk be your friend. The more you submit the better. Just make sure you don’t submit the same video twice.

How long can my video be?

Maximum two minutes. Minimum 0.1 second.

What file formats and sizes are accepted?

Videos you upload are automatically posted to YouTube. Here’s a list of some of the well-known formats that YouTube supports:

* WebM files (Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codec)

* .MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files

* .AVI (Many cameras output this format - typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM)

* .MPEGPS (Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio)

* .WMV

* .FLV (Adobe - FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio).

Learn more about YouTube’s accepted file formats here.

If I get stage fright, how do I remove my video?

If you want to remove your video from the site, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to take it down.

Do I have to worry about copyright rules?

You sure do. If your video does not adhere to the rules, your entry may be denied, or disqualified. Please see the contest rules for more details. If it feels wrong, it probably is.

How long will it take for my video to appear on the website?

Every video submitted has to go through a screening process. This should take roughly 24 hours, unless we’re turning the clocks ahead and then it may take 25 hours. Once your video is approved, you will receive an email with a link to your video.

Why can’t I see my video on the website?

Read above. If your video does not appear on the website after, say, a day, it is probably because it doesn’t adhere to the contest rules (we will also notify you in this instance), or does not meet the file format standards.

Does YouTube measure views in real time?

No, YouTube does not update video view counts in real time.
